Life is a Niche , Pick One !

I suppose today articles will be posted all over the blogosphere about choosing, determining, and researching the proper niche. While the ambitions of those are similar, results, can be dramatically different. I believe in my heart of hearts many will choose about making money online, why, because they do not trust the knowledge they possess themselves. Life is a niche isn’t it? Choose one , commit to one and then begin to cultivate one. The word niche is certainly catchy and is applied to all areas our lives. I love words, so as is my custom ,I dove into defining this word, and came up with these interpretations.
a position particularly well suited to the person who occupies it; “he found his niche in the academic world”
A marketing segmentation strategy in which the firm focuses on serving one segment of the market.
A niche market (also known as a target market) is a focused targetable portion (subset) of a market sector.
So then I began thinking about niches that would have appeal. Of course, money or making money came to mind straight away, but we have already decided the competition in that niche would make it impossible to make a dent. Haven’t we?
I continued brainstorming, reading and observing. It is said we learn 70 % of what we know through our eyes. Today I watched people in my local Barnes and Noble bookstore. They were all buying Christmas gifts. I overheard 3 conversations. two of them were about money. As I checked out the clerk wanted to know if I wanted to save money by registering for their club card. I went to my local Hooter’s for lunch, not sure what my eyes were telling me there, or if I want to share if I did know. Suffice it to say servers were busy working hard for tips, money. The point is I watched people and then I listened to people. There is a niche in everyone you meet.
What I am about to write is not a revelation. We are obsessed with money. I talked about it with my lunch companion. I asked her to give me a few things that caused her strife in regards to money. She listed off food, gas, and health care, her house payment and expenses to keep it.
My mind then switched back to niche selection and I cane up with few that may surprise you. If you have ever owned a business you know that one of the basic principles of adding to your bottom line is to produce more income or reduce expenses. Let’s focus on reducing expenses and by the end perhaps we can grow your income.
The foundation of MASLOW’S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS is, Physiological Needs, Basic physical needs: the ability to acquire food, shelter, clothing and other basics to survive In effect these are the same areas my lunch buddy mentioned aren’t they?
Food
I have never met a person that doesn’t require a measure of food each and every day. Here there is a need we need to explore. If we all need food, then we all need to prepare food. Cooking! I love cooking as much as I love eating. Do a Google search on cooking and it will return 226,000,000 pages. That may be a little too broad. So let’s narrow it down. Specialty cooking perhaps? Desserts? Try that one on Google. Low Fat cooking? Vegetarian cooking? How about heart healthy cooking? A million people and I underwent bypass surgery last year. 300 million others in the United States alone need to prevent it. There is nothing like a heart surgery patient to make known to the world the evils of slamming down hamburgers on the way home form work. This is the exact process I used to secure the domain heart-healthy-cooking.com, I barely have 3 pages online and already have a page rank. How could that be? Heart surgery is the cure for over eating. My plan is to tell the world about it.
Health Care
The day doctors started accepting credit cards is the day we all should have recognized our health care situation was only going to get worse. We all put off going to the doctor, because of costs. I know I do. Is there a nurse out there reading this that could provide information about home health care? Most people who enter the hospital go home from the hospital. That requires aftercare. Sometimes wound care, bandage and dressing changes. Many reading this post have children. Little Tommy comes into the house screaming because he fell off his bike. He needs attention. Go to the doctor or perhaps your website. I know you are thinking WebMD, but would you rather go there or would you rather go to someone you know, trust and have built a relationship with over time. Someone who can answer an email, where you can post a question and interact with a person. There really is no limit to what you can do with the health care niche. Senior citizens care, newborns and everything in between. We all need medical care and we all pay too much for it. Narrow down a health care niche and you may have found your ticket.
Home Expenses
I sat down with a lady sometime back and she and I compared living expenses. An example, her electric bill was 29.00 mine was $395.00. She went on to tell me how to reduce my energy costs with ways I would have never thought of. She then went into food costs and every aspect of homeowners expenses in detail. perhaps she is a bit OCD, but she saves money.Then it hit me. I asked her if she ever thought about sharing her knowledge. I have a domain name for you young lady, perhaps a title for your book. I mentioned you-thought-you-were-frugal.com. Think about it, a website telling people how to save money on their home and living expenses.
Still another friend mentioned her mortgage was basically affordable, but the repair expenses were killing her. She is sinking into debt. Oops there is a niche, check this out.
The plumber came to her house was there 30 minutes and collected $175.00. Plumbing, yep plumbing, just like eating and cooking, everyone has to have it.
You can make money in your home based business by telling people how to save money. The opportunities are all around you. There are 2 tracks, you can focus on what people want, like a new 2009 corvette zr1 and a new home to match, turning your attention to telling them how to make money to buy them. They may want a place to buy steroids online. Who the heck knows? Or you can focus on the basic needs we all have. Remember you make money, by saving money. Not as sexy? Nope but just as profitable, if not more so.
Can it be done? Still need help choosing a niche? Take a peek at this site and get motivated . I found it today and proves my point. It does not have to be about making money, signing on with 30 affiliates and promoting products you know nothing about. Our lives are niches, we all have needs, helping to fill those needs can help you fulfill your wants and maybe make you some money. Perhaps my friend who is wild about math can help you count it.
