Recently I e-mailed Courtney Tuttle to ask if I could interview him for my Making Sales Making Money readers. You see Court is somewhat of an idol of mine in the blogworld. His inclusion of a post of mine generated more back links than anything I have done thus far. Not totally un-expected, he said yes he would love to. I was in the middle of my inforpreneur series , and told him I would send him the questions soon. Meanwhile, I met Vic Franqui and Court’s partner in the wildly successful BloggingZoom. Vic recently launched his new blog Blogger Unleashed and I reviewed it last week. He has attracted over 400 RSS subscribers in 14 days. He and I had a conversation. We talked blogging, talked about the fact that until not too long ago, he lived down the street from my home in Florida. I found out he loves baseball as much as I do, and except for the fact that he is a Marlin’s fan, that’s very good. I found a very down to earth man , sincere in his wish to help bloggers become better bloggers. So I popped the question to him about an interview, he said he would love to. I asked them both some rather benign questions, but Vic seemed to get a touch wound up on question number 3, then finished with a flurry. These 2 guys are 1st rate versions of themselves. I hope you enjoy it, I know I did. You’ll want to read it through to the end.
MSMM: First thing first guys, when I look at your respective blogs, I see 2 very different approaches to delivering the goods. It’s obvious you admire one another. How did 2 guys with such different styles get to a place where you respect each other so much?
Court:Well I can’t speak for what Vic thinks about me, but I admire Vic because he exceptionally good at what he does. He’s also a very cool, unselfish guy. If you ever have the chance to talk to him, I think you’ll be surprised at what he’s like.
Vic: I think that is what makes us work so well. I believe we actually look at the internet very much alike the fact that Court is laid back and politically correct places me in check many times so over all we click very well.
MSMM: Blogging Zoom has really helped the common blogger with traffic and exposure. Has BZ met your expectations and what does the future hold for BZ?
Court: BZ has met my expectations so far, but the future will be much bigger for BloggingZoom. People forget that we’re working with a domain that’s brand new and that we haven’t really hit the press yet. We have some new features on the way and then we’re going to work on making it a much bigger service. BloggingZoom will soon be a huge traffic generator for bloggers. It won’t be long before posts that hit the home page are able to pull visitors in the thousands.
Vic: Since day one when I first told Court about the concept I knew it was going to be huge, and as Court says in a post. After reading paragraph one he also knew it would be huge. In my case I just did not ever think that looking at our stats we are so in front of all the rest in time line. Right now we are months ahead on traffic versus Digg.com at the same time.
MSMM: If you could change one thing about blogging across the board what would it be?
Court: I would want to delete some of the popular ‘make money online‘ blogs. Some of them aren’t doing anything for anyone yet people read them incessantly.
Vic: Make bloggers stop being such self centered b*tches.
MSMM:How much time do you spend reading other blogs? And beside the obvious what are your favorites?
Court:I spend probably about an hour per day reading other blogs, most of which I find on BloggingZoom. I don’t really read most of the popular blogs in my industry. The only popular blog that I read a lot is CopyBlogger.com.
Vic: I take two hours a day to do my blog run, first stop is Court and then I go to BZ and read submissions.
MSMM: I think I read where there are 100,000 plus new blogs added to the blogoshere everyday. Why do so many seem so hooked on blogging?
Court: Frankly, because blogging is relatively easy compared to other methods for building a web presence.’
Vic: The illusive easy way to have an online business, with out the reality that it is actually harder then in the real world.
MSMM:The make money online niche is crazy competitive. Wouldn’t it be better for most to choose a niche where they could make an impact even is it’s not a glitzy?
Court:The make money online niche is a waste of time for 99% of people out there. Vic and I both have this type of site because we know that we can use our sites to launch awesome products that we can come up with. If you’re trying to make money through the traditional methods with a site like this, you’re making a huge mistake. You have to come up with a product or service to make it work.
Vic: This is what Blogger Unleashed is ll about trying to teach people that niches that you would never think is they way to go.
MSMM: I know it might be impossible to know for sure, but, in your opinions, how many make money bogs are actually making money?
Court:That depends on what you mean by ‘making money’. I bet less than 20 are making over $1000 per month.
Vic: I can say less than 1% most of these kids are John Chow wannabees, I find it amazing how can you talk about making money online and not made a f*cking dime yourself, it is absurd.
MSMM:I read lots about Goggle Page Rank. It seems most don’t care about it until they lose some rank. Your thoughts on Page Rank gentleman, please.
Court:I’ve posted extensively on my site, but here are the basics. It depends on what type of site you have. If you have a make money online site, people will place value on you depending on PR. If you’re in an industry that isn’t tech-savvy, it doesn’t really matter that much.
Vic: Google Page Rank is totally tied to your niche. But, this is something you need to take care of, just as the other 100 factors that determine a sites success.
MSMM: I recently read the 4 Hour Work Week, how much time do you actually spend on your businesses?
Court:I’m not sure I even want to answer that question! In all honesty I spend at least 80 hours per week on my businesses. Of course, very little of that is spent on CourtneyTuttle.com.
Vic: I sleep 4 hours day the rest of the time I am on my business. I have goals and at 39 I need to make things happen yesterday so I act accordingly.
MSMM: Court, does Vic ever get on your nerves?
Court: LoL yeah I hate Vic.
No seriously, I think people would be really surprised if that talked to Vic. He’s much different than you would think.
MSMM: Vic this question is just for you. Is Courtney an “A” List blogger?
Vic: F*ck that A-list blogger sh*t. I would like to remind you that dumb f*ck John Chow is supposed to be an “A” List blogger this makes the term just be sh*t. Court is the blogger I respect the most on the net before we even had our first conversation his blog was the only one I would read and learned from. I never learned a f*cking thing from the other so called A-listers.
Thanks guys that was fun and a real pleasure for me.

[…] Thanksgiving and Christmas are behind us and all we have to safely negotiate is New Years. Shortly thereafter the blogosphere will be inundated with post about how much the various make money blogs earned during the month of December. Some will claim they experienced a holiday rush and sales records were set. Others will suggest the December lull was the result of a technical difficulty with their site, but somehow they managed to save the month in the last week by installing some fancy widget that boosted traffic and thus profit, and may suggest you do the same. Coming from a traditional business background where profits and bottom lines were closely guarded secrets, I am amazed. Why do blog owners post this kind of information as a matter of public record? Can you believe them? Mr Ripley made it famous to believe it or not. The short answer to that question is NO, you cant believe them. […]
This is a very nice interview. I totally agree with Vic when he said he didn’t learn anything from the so-called A listers. Spot on.
