Baby Steps Lead to Big Changes

home based business opportunities.jpgFor weeks now I have been brainstorming a concept for my home based business. Since the launch of this site in September of 2007 my purpose has been to help others realize their own dreams through my experience over the last 30 years. I have helped some, and for that I am proud. I have tried diligently to filter out the MB’s of garbage out there and offer my readers a safe haven for ideas and concepts they could apply to their own businesses. I have in my estimation made baby steps, but those baby steps will lead to big changes.

Those steps have brought me to where I am today. What if those of us who want to practice business on the internet with integrity had our own resources to rely on without all the flim-flam? What if work at home people could network with like minded people without the threat of throwing their hard earned good money after bad? Why not create network of proven, successful men and women who practiced sound business principles with character and integrity.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be self sufficient financially and at the same time help others accomplish the same? Would you like to get to the end of the month before you get to the end of the money? Do you get tired of reading blogs and sites filled with making money ideas? I believe in my heart of hearts it can be done, so that is what I will set out a plan to do and I have a vision for that plan

Where there is no vision, the people perish Proverbs 29:18

I will set into motion a site redesign to make navigation easier. I have contacted my favorite designer and he is too busy for a custom design I will require so I’m exploring other avenues. Essentially I want create a network of experts to contribute to this site.. I will not operate each site or section of this blog, but have oversight of their content. If its not truth, it’s not getting published, at least not here. Each will provide information about establishing a home based business. That may be SEO, marketing, writing, or working with Wordpress , the menu potentially is limitless. There will not be one blog about blogging. Frankly I’m worn out with that niche too. What you won’t see is bullspit about stuff you don’t need. I am not an expert on everything, but I will find people who are experts in their respective niches. I love WAHM’s , but I am not a WAHM, but I will be looking for a couple to contribute. Word of warning for you, if you find someone claiming to be a expert at all of it, know this truth for sure , they are liars. There will be challenges.

Finding Like Minded People, Partners

This might be THE challenge as I reorganize this site. I meet lots of people, some might even have a similar mindset, but its difficult to find someone who possess the same passion for what I want to do. Oh there are plenty that give lip service to it. Yeah Don that sounds good, or yeah I want to do that, but when the rubber meets the road, I don’t usually get much. Try I will , but I don’t expect it to be easy. Think you might be a candidate? Here are some fundamental criteria.

Do you have integrity?
Do you have character?
Do you genuinely want to help people better themselves?
If you can answer yes to these 3 questions, we need to talk.

Monetizing the process

This will be most people will get off the train. Why? What I am about to say will cause some of you to click off this page, but I am not concerned with monetizing this site right now, at least not as a primary focus. Make no mistake, I have plans for monetization, for this site and its network and contributors. It is just that those plans are in the future. See I told some of you would jump off here.

Whats in it for you?

If you are not sick and tired of reading crap about crap this wont interest you. I’m asking you to consider the concept, and become part of the solution to what is the problem. Statistics show that there are more than 1 Billion internet users. Not all those users want to visit porn sites and make money sites. If this concept can touch a fraction of those looking for an alternative then I’m good with that. There are people of integrity and character out there. Guess who they want to deal with? People of integrity and character that’s who! I want to impact people in a positive, professional, legitimate way.

The Detractors

Detractors? Yes there will be. The short answer here is I don’t care about detractors and let me explain why. In the good old USA we elect presidents every 4 years and all one needs to do is convince 50.1 % of the populace you’re a good guy or girl. The rest hate you. There will always be detractors. People, who live in or like the dark, don’t care for the light. This site will be a light. It will serve to expose the dark at every opportunity and provide its visitors with the truth about operating your home based business. If some don’t like that, that’s too damn bad. So, why not just follow the others?
Following has never been my strong suit.

Why the Change Now ?

There are a few people that know I have been considering this for some time now. Most have been supportive. Those closest to me will tell you, as I have , if I’m not making an impact, I am not happy . I want to have more impact. I have written about following your instincts and your passions. That is what I am doing. Essentially I do not have a choice. Perhaps one of my favorite sayings is “Say what you mean and mean what you say” I’m taking my own advice. This post was submitted to Court’s 25 best Post of Your Lives

I will stop here for now, but, I have much more to say on this so please check back.

    Don,

I think we need to talk!

You know what I think? That this will work, because I know you will only pick people that are as passionate about their topic (experience) as you are and passion wins every single time. I also know a designer for you, will send you an email. ;-)

    A great post Don.

You are a man after my own heart.

I can’t volunteer as I’m making hardly any money from my blog yet.

However if you want stuff on staying healthy at home you are welcome to copy stuff from my blog or with a little notice I will try and write something.

It sounds like exactly the initiative that is needed. My heartfelt congratulations and all possible wishes for your success.

  6. Cindy on March 13th, 2008 9:33 am

Hi Don, I’ve been going through Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey and he shared a great statistic from a study on Millionaires. Of all the different traits and reasons for success they listed, there was only one that was shared by all: Integrity!

Entrepreneurs need an online source they can trust and an outlet that is not a scam. I look forward to following your vision and success!

  7. Case Stevens on March 13th, 2008 9:35 am

    Hi Don,

If you, at this very point, persevere and believe in success, then you are about to leave the herd behind you. It will make a difference, however hard it will be to believe that!
As Monika says: NO one said it will be easy.

Hi Don, great vision, and one thing that I learn from you, you always involve people in your vision…
from your message on giving in social networking, your group writing and now this.

Just as what I have read in John Maxwell’s book as well… your dream is not a big dream until you need others…

Congratz and wish you all the best, let me know if I can contribute again =)…

    Cheers,
    Robert

Sounds like a mighty vision Don. I wish you every success with it.

  10. Don on March 14th, 2008 11:29 am

@Cindy I spoke with gentleman today and we discussed integrity as a important component to success, plus is I only sleep 4 hours a night I want to sleep all 4 hours in peace.

@Case , thanks for the encouragement!

@Robert, I met John Maxwell once, great guy in person too.Great inspiration for me, I’m sure you and I will talk again. Whats the point if we don’t impact and involve others?

@Karen , I dream it over and over, sometimes I lay in bed and I can see it, and more importantly it makes me feel content.

  15. Landon on March 20th, 2008 2:29 am

Hi Don, I just read this post for the 2nd time, thinking about the fit. I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to working with you.

This is officially my first comment here. Thank you for creating a space where there is no bullspit and a place to meet like minded individuals who either know or believe that being self employed is a good thing whether you focus that online or off.

You have the vision to help at least one other person to create a better life and that shows a bit of your character! Looking forward to building this friendship!

Nice site, btw, why a redesign? get tired of it? You could just mess with the nav if that doesn’t satisfy you. Keep the color scheme, it works!

  16. Don on March 20th, 2008 2:48 am

Thanks Landon, its coming together. The site sidebars need some mods and Ill work on that when I can do it uninterrupted . When my eyes see code they get goofy. The color scheme will remain no matter what I end up doing. Thanks for your comments

  17. Wendi Kelly on March 20th, 2008 9:38 am

    Thanks Don,

I am thinking today of Napoleon Hill’s concept of the Power of the Master Mind. Once you have gathered a group of like-minded people together and can build that power of “organized knowledge” you will be unstopable.

    Looking forward to hearing more.
