Free Shipping A Business Model Where Everyone Wins

Most of us spend out days trying to get site traffic to convert, focused on the consumer. I was recently introduced to a site that also focuses on the consumer and the consumer doesn’t have to pay a dime. Finding a need and filling that need is the foundation of any home based business.

Luke and Maisie Knowles, the husband-and-wife home based entrepreneurs founded FreeShipping.org. Their business provides consumers with information on retailers that provide free shipping. As anyone knows who has sold products on the Internet shipping costs can make or break a transaction. The company was founded in December of 2007 and now features nearly 800 retailers offering their products with free shipping. Among their clients are J.C Penny, Kohl’s, Macy’s , Old Navy and Best Buy to name a few. Their site visitors find a store or product they are interested in purchasing and click a link that offers free shipping.

Now how successful can a site that doesn’t sell a product become? Last month, FreeShipping.org helped create more than $600,000 in sales. Retailers have come to Free Shipping.org and business continues to grow. Knowles says he expects more than 1000 retailers by years end.

This business model is successful because everybody wins. Retailers are happy because FreeShipping generates sales. Consumers are happy because they shop from home and don’t have to pay shipping charges. FreeShipping.org serves as a conduit for both parties to get together and is paid by their advertisers.

The couple started the business in their home on Orlando and recently moved the business to Colorado. Plans are to add employees and continue growing their business.

a brilliant idea. it’s good to see that some people who come up with win-win solutions do get their reward.

Thats a good idea, although how many of those things are there out there? Realistically they are acting as an affiliate therefore reliant on the other sites.

A good site i came across for starting out with your business idea is ed dale’s 30 day challenge, he gives you tips and techiniques of working out if your business idea is feasible over the web. I found it quite helpful anyway.

This just shows that a little bit of creativity goes a long way. Thinking outside the box is what gets these type of people from nothing to the top in a very short amount of time.

These kind of amazing business models - and set up so quickly - are what makes the net such an incredible place… Good luck to them!

That is really interesting- so the retailers are the ones who pay up, right? So the business model of freeshipping is offer advertising for the retailers to people who are really ready to buy.

    Very very smart take.

I need to go there and look around. Shipping is one of the reasons I don’t buy much online. Hopefully it is a Canada friendly site.

It is good to see that customer service still matters to some people. I was already giving up hope to be honest.
