me.jpgToday is December 19, 2007 and I suppose it’s about time that I write an about me page. I’m not really sure why I didn’t do this one day one, except that it was one of those things that stayed on my list and I transferred to the next day every evening.

My name is Don Miller and I live in St. Petersburg Florida having recently moved from my life long home of Tampa. When I was 16 years old I was working as an Air Conditioning service tech. My employer sent me on a job that required that I collect COD at the end of the job. The bill was $174.00 which the customer promptly paid in cash. I was making 1.70 per hour and that was big bucks to me. Did I just date myself? I’m 51 years old. The long and the short of it, I count that day as the day that an entrepreneur was born. I remember specifically saying to myself “I could do this!”

I opened my own service business 5 years later and eventually sold my interest in the business some 13 years later. I am proud to say that it remained a thriving business and a leader in its industry in the Tampa Bay Area until last year when the new owners failing health forced its closure.

Following the sale of that business I decided to open a baseball card shop. What?! Yep I wanted to take some time off and work in a business I loved, Sports. In those days the internet was not nearly what it is now, and I made a comfortable living in my little shop, selling colored pieces of cardboard.

After a few years I began selling to other dealers online. Eventually I was spending more time on the computer than out front in the store. Always looking to save expenses I moved the business home. The first year at home I grossed over 300 thousand dollars.
Largely through eBay and relationships I formed through the internet. Things couldn’t be better.

But then, I had a life changing experience in Sept 1992 and entered ministry work. Ministry work? Yep, for 5 years I served in an inner city ministry. I spent my days counseling, teaching, encouraging and helping others. I resigned after those wonderful days as a Director of Operations. Again I returned to an entrepreneurial lifestyle. Once a person gets the disease, it very difficult to shake.

I returned to selling sports memorabilia and sales were better than before. I learned how to cut out eBay’s take and my profit margin increased dramatically. Often I would do a deal early in the morning that would net a couple of thousand dollars and would take the rest of that day off.

In September 2001 a group of radical extremists flew airplanes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon, it was 6 weeks from that morning before I’d sell another sports related item. Suddenly the world figured out cards and memorabilia weren’t important.

I became employed at the Department of Homeland Security in August of 2002 where I am employed today. At least until I make my online presence profitable and meaningful.
Bring on November 2006. I entered a hospital emergency room making sure to flick out the cigar I had firmly planted in my mouth. 3 days later I had open heart surgery where a team of doctors bypassed 5 of my arteries. Again a life changing experience. There is nothing quite like being laid up in hospital bed counting your own heart beat just to make sure it still works. A new mission was born within me. For what ever years I have left, I will teach anyone who wants to learn about building relationships , building business and building your own personal character.

This site and another I will develop will teach the fundamental values and principles I believe one needs to possess to be successful. I have a passion for coaching, mentoring and developing people with dormant and unrecognized talents. That’s means all of you who are reading this page. I will not lie to you; I will not knowingly promote any product or service that will not enrich your online experience.

My mission is to promote legitimate home based business opportunities as I see them. I will promote them with purpose, passion, and principles. I will respect your talents and meet you where you are and not where I expect your should be. To that end, we will make money in the process. I simply cannot shut up when it comes to the pleasure and profit one can derive from being self-employed
