The Time Has Come to Fish or Cut Bait
Some of you may be familiar with the phrase Fish or Cut Bait. Here is the south we love these catchy little phrases. For the un-informed it means, either continue in a productive manner or desist entirely. Similar in meaning to ‘put up or shut up’ That time for myself and my home based business is now. Making Sales and Making Money has taken on a new meaning for this internet entrepreneur. Within the next week or so, I am resigning from my job with the U.S Government to pursue a life of full time internet marketing.

Embracing Adversity in Your Business or Your Life
You might be thinking how can adversity be a tool for my home based business? On the surface it doesn’t sound right does it? The fact is if you have not faced adversity in your home based business, you will. It may happen today, tomorrow or sometime down the road, but be sure, it’s coming. How you deal with that adversity, is really the issue at hand. Show me someone who has done something worthwhile, and I’ll show you someone who has overcome adversity. What may seem like adversity to you, may not to others, but we all have a threshold that is going to get crossed. We have choices. We can react , usually with negative results, or we can respond, usually with a positive result.
Its The Business We Have Chosen
This week I added some 50 + sites to my home based business. My friends it’s a lot of work. Please don’t let anyone tell you it is not. My sleep pattern is , well, not a sleep pattern at all. My girlfriend has helped me as she is a part of the process. My dog thinks I have forgotten him and probably wonders if I am ever going to come out of my home based business office. My hope is that we will all soon be reaping the rewards of our sacrifices, but at the end of the day, it’s the business we have chosen.
Choosing the Perfect Business Partner
Your home based business is going to reach a point where you can’t do anymore. You work and work and never seem to get past the point where you want to be. It’s funny the way that works. You get a glimpse of your dream but it always seems just out of the reach of your hands.
Why? It’s because you’re trying to reach for it with your hands and as you have discovered, you can only put your hands on so many things in a given day or week. Your plans for the expansion of your dream are at a standstill. You will have to expand your business with your brains, not your hands. You need an employee or a partner. They need to be the right fit. Here are a few things you should consider before partnering with anyone.
Basic Essentials For Business Success
When Don proposed his idea of baby steps that lead to big changes the other day to get other writers on board to talk about their respective experiences on the Internet I jumped at the idea. Why, because I strongly believe his vision and therefore I follow along with it. Now, I could just say why would I want to do this when I’m a flat out writer and really don’t have any spare time on hand.
Social Media Is Not Without Faults
This week I read a post about lessons learned about communities and social media. It was typical of the quality I see on that site.. I commented about the way the author handled the situation which I thought was admirable. The Stumble community had thumbs downed her site on a review. Apparently they were not terribly enthused with my site and domain either. This is the story of how it happened and hopefully helps you. The author of the article is Wendy from e-Moms. I got to learn my own lesson. Folks I love social media and what it can do for anyones site, but it does have some downside.
Caroline Middlebrook and I Just Disagree
Recently I posted an article about Running a Home Based Business, Like a Business. I expressed some warnings and advice about maintaining a measure of structure to your day and warned against among other things, how easily ones business could slip into mediocrity. I’m not quite sure I expected the response and reaction when I posted the article. Meanwhile I became intrigued and moved by two individual posts about the state of bloggers in regard to differences of opinion. Monika Mundell at The Writers Manifesto Blog and RT Cunningham at Untwisted Vortex offered opinions and thoughts that I shared and how those differences often take on an ugly side. I had some views to express myself, but then the blogosphere provided me with an opportunity to explain how I think differences of opinion could be handled.
Key Components in Building Customer Loyalty
Your home based business success will hinge on many key components, however developing customer loyalty should be near the top of any home based business development plan. It’s easy to talk about developing customer loyalty; actually implementing a plan for customer retention is quite another matter. Its importance should not be excluded from your overall business plan. Here are a few tips to establish a foundation for your home based business success. these principles have served me well for over 30 years. Remember you are establishing a business , a legitimate business. Your reliability, credibility and dedication to your customer’s needs cannot be overlooked. Successful business’s practice it everyday and insist upon it in their employees. Customer loyalty matters.
Building Rapport and Relationship with your Readers
Your online home based business depends on traffic. I’m sure we agree on that. My site just had the biggest week in its history. Unique visitors increased by 300% the past week and page views over 100 % . The question is ; will they come back? It is a question all online business owners must face, and must answer. The future of your business depends on it. Once your traffic pattern begins to take shape your plan to keep them should be already in place. Online relationships can be built the same way your personal relationships can, if you are willing to invest the time in interacting with your reader investigating their interests. Knowledge of these two will allow you an opportunity to introduce your product or service.
Use What You Know to Make Money

I answer e-mails and have conversations every day from people who want to start their own home based business. Usually the conversation includes an idea about purchasing a franchise, and MLM opportunity or an internet marketing possibility. All legitimate, all potentially profitable. The question is are they a good fit for the business. The majority of the time the answer is no. Why?
