Social Media and the Power of Giving

Did you shy away from the title of this post at first? No worries I am sure most people did. It is born in all of us. We are far better at taking and receiving than giving aren’t we? Now before you hit the back button, because you are thinking you are not that way, give it a few more minutes. It really is related to blogging. How many sites have you visited that busy receiving without regard to giving. Winston Churchill once said , We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Seems there are bunch of them who read the first part of Churchill’s statement and choose to ignore the rest. If you are not willing to give in the social media world, and everyone has that decision to make, don’t plan on receiving much.

So When Do You Make Money

money-stacklrg.jpgI have had this post in draft form in my blog for several weeks now. When do you make money? When do we make money? I receive e-mails most every day about someone wanting to make money in sales with their blog or website, frankly it’s why I created this site and I love it. As a result the outline of this post has changed somewhat. I want to address something that seems to be a common concern, making money is sales.

Offer to a Spammer, How could they Refuse

This week I received yet another get rich quick e-mail. Another offer to make me wealthy for doing absolutely nothing. All I have to do is sit back, and watch the money just pour in. Of course it does involve me giving away 40 of my better friends as an initial investment, but hey, after that, its all good. After all it is guaranteed right? Below is most of the email, I have left out the links intentionally for obvious reasons, but I am going to make an offer to its author at the end of this post.

Content + Traffic + Pre-Sell = Monetize

Originally I had planned to make this series a 6 part post. I have decided to combine traffic and monetization into one. Why? Because you won’t have one without the other. Your online business, and niche, simply will not function as a business without them working in tandem.

If you were opening a restaurant or retail store of some sort, your first priority would be location, location, location. When you start your online business, for the first time in your business life you will be at least the start, on equal footing with everyone else. The Internet.

A Guide to Becoming an Infopreneur, Part 3

158999641_0b0c004d2b_m.jpgWe have all heard the old adage you don’t get a second chance at a first impression. The look and feel of you site is very comparable. Selecting a theme for you blog with a look and feel your visitors will like is your next challenge. Making a selection that is functional, pleasing to the human eye and makes navigation throughout the site easy cannot be overlooked. Often times we will choose what we like and not what is good for us. Have you ever been faced with that kind of choice?

That First Impression

Blogging Zoom, November Traffic Report and more

It’s that time of the month when all the big blogs like to post about how much money they made in the previous month. Let’s get that out of the way for me right now. I made just under $100.00 this month, down significantly from the $300.00 plus in October, but that’s the truth and I promised early on to tell the truth.

18 Things to do when your Site is Down

Imagine waking up to check your blog and it’s gone. Oh I am sure it is not the first time it’s happened, but it was a new chapter in my blogging life. I discovered it and while at first I did not give it much thought as my morning evolved it became clear this wasn’t gong to be one of my favorite days. Having been in the customer service business my entire life I began to experience the New Business Order first hand. That’s when you realize that all that you really are as a customer and consumer, is a contributor. A contributor to someone’s bottom line. Once you have made your contribution, step aside please, we have no interest in you anymore, unless of course you would like to make another contribution.

Use What You Know to Make Money

I answer e-mails and have conversations every day from people who want to start their own home based business. Usually the conversation includes an idea about purchasing a franchise, and MLM opportunity or an internet marketing possibility. All legitimate, all potentially profitable. The question is are they a good fit for the business. The majority of the time the answer is no. Why?

Q: I want to start a business. But I have bad credit, and everything seems so far off and out of reach (financially and time-wise). Also, I have a 17-month-old baby at home, and I would hate to leave her every day. I’m afraid I’ll miss important milestones. I’d desperately love to work from home, but what I’ve read about home based job opportunities suggests I need to invest more money than I can afford at this time. Is there any hope for me in the near future? Or should I just save, save, save, and maybe eventually I’ll have enough money to do something I love?
